As we cross the halfway mark of 2025, the Ashton Hope Keegan Foundation is filled with gratitude and excitement about our upcoming events. This year has already offered powerful reminders of what’s possible when a community unites behind a mission to empower women.
Spotlight on Recent Accomplishments
Before we look ahead, we want to share some updates about the progress we’ve made together.
Record-Breaking 2024 Hope Gala
Last year’s “Golden Evening in Paris” was a night to remember. Together, we raised $143,000—double what we raised the year before. Perhaps even more inspiring was the reach of that generosity: 60 percent of all contributions came from outside of Athens. These funds directly fueled our technical training scholarships, material support grants, and barrier-reducing programs that help women pursue their educational and career goals with confidence.
May 2025: Community Engagement in Action
This spring, members of our team attended the RetroProm benefiting the Athens Community Council on Aging. It was more than a fun evening; it was a meaningful opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to intergenerational collaboration and strong local partnerships.

Support from Walmart’s Spark Good Local Grant
Thanks to the Lexington Road Walmart, we received a $1,000 Spark Good Local Grant. This contribution will directly support the women we serve and reinforces the vital role of corporate partners who believe in giving back to the community.
Behind the Scenes: Hope Gala 2025 Preparations
With the calendar inching closer to August, excitement is building behind the scenes. This year’s theme—A Starry, Starry Night—draws inspiration from Vincent van Gogh’s iconic painting. And just like the artwork itself, this year’s Gala promises to be bold, brilliant, and full of wonder.
A Starry Night Comes to Life
Interior design students from Athens Technical College are using their talents to reimagine The Cotton Press as an enchanted interpretation of Van Gogh’s vision. Their creativity and dedication are bringing new life to the event space and reminding us all of what can happen when imagination meets purpose.
The People Behind the Magic
The Gala would not be possible without the incredible efforts of our board members, volunteers, and donors. From securing sponsorships to managing logistics, they are the heart and hands behind this gathering. Their dedication ensures the evening is not only beautiful but impactful.

Nearly 100 supporters registered to run, walk, and rally behind our mission, and we are incredibly grateful for every participant, donor, and volunteer who made it possible. Your commitment fuels our ability to provide educational opportunities for women, and we could not do this without you!
Hope on the Horizon: The 2025 Hope Gala
One of the most anticipated moments of the year is our 8th annual Hope Gala, returning on August 2, 2025. Following the record-breaking success of 2024’s Golden Evening in Paris, this year’s event will transport us into the magic and wonder of Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night– a theme brought to life by the talented interior design students at Athens Technical College.
Set against the stunning backdrop of The Cotton Press, this exclusive evening will be filled with inspiration, community, and the opportunity to create lasting change. More than just a celebration, the Hope Gala is a catalyst for transformation. Sponsorships and ticket sales provide crucial funding for scholarships, material support, and programs that break down barriers for women entering the workforce. Sponsorship opportunities and Early-Bird discounted tickets are now available, with full-priced tickets going on sale in May! Secure your spot early for what promises to be another sold-out event!
A Bold Vision: Our 2025 Goals
At the Ashton Hope Keegan Foundation, we believe in setting ambitious goals that drive meaningful change. Here’s how we’re making an impact in 2025:
Expanding Access to GED Education
We aim to increase the number of women completing their GED by 25% over the combined total of the past two years. To remove financial barriers, we have allocated $9,000 in scholarships and funding assistance for application fees and testing costs. Through partnerships with organizations like Women to the World, Athens Technical College, and United Way of Northeast Georgia, we will ensure at least 20 women receive the support they need to achieve this critical milestone.
Supporting Skills-Based Training
Education is just the beginning, career readiness is key. Our goal is to increase the number of women attending technical or certification schools by 25%, providing $1,000 scholarships to at least 195 women. By working closely with institutions like the Innovative Healthcare Institute and Athens Technical College, we will help women transition seamlessly into skills-based programs that lead to sustainable careers.
Investing in High School Graduates
For students transitioning from high school directly into technical training, we will provide $1,000 scholarships to at least 10 students who do not qualify for the HOPE Scholarship. In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Athens and local high school representatives, we will ensure these students have the financial support they need to pursue further education and career preparation.
Breaking Down Final Barriers to Employment
Education and training are vital, but without the necessary tools and certifications, graduates may still struggle to enter the workforce. We are committed to eliminating these financial obstacles by investing $10,000 in professional gear (e.g., scrubs, tools) and Board Certification Test fees. By partnering with training schools, we will maximize this impact and set women up for long-term success.
